Capture rate of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) in binary star systems

چکیده

ABSTRACT The distribution of dark matter (DM) inside galaxies is not uniform. Near the central regions, its density highest. Then, it logical to suppose that, galaxies, DM affects physics stars in regions more than outer regions. Besides, current stellar evolutionary models did consider effects their assumptions. To effects, at first one must estimate how much a star contains. capture rate (CR) particles by individual was investigated already literature. In this work, we discuss CR can be affected when are members binary systems (BSSs; instead studying them individually). When member BSS, speed changes periodically due elliptical motion around companion star. BSSs different BSS configurations. end, discussed observational signatures that attributed BSSs.

Direct and Indirect Searches for Dark Matter in the Form of Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (wimps)

Numerous lines of evidence indicate that the matter content of the Universe is dominated by some unseen component. Determining the nature of this Dark Matter is one of the most important problems in cosmology. Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) are widely considered to be one of the best candidates which may comprise the Dark Matter. A brief overview of the different methods being use...

On the direct detection of extragalactic weakly interacting massive particles

We consider the direct detection of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) reaching the Earth from outside the Milky Way. If these WIMPs form a distinct population they will, although of much lower flux than typical galactic halo WIMPs, have a number of features which might aid in their ultimate detectability: a high and essentially unique velocity (∼ 600 km/s in the galactic rest frame) ...

Response of mica to weakly interacting massive particles.

We calculate spin-dependent cross sections for the scattering from mica of hypothetical weakly interacting dark-matter particles such as neutralinos. The most abundant odd-A isotopes in mica, 27 Al and 39 K, require different shell-model treatments. The calculated cross sections will allow the interpretation of ongoing experiments that look for tracks due to the interaction of dark-matter parti...

Search for low-mass weakly interacting massive particles with SuperCDMS.

We report a first search for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) using the background rejection capabilities of SuperCDMS. An exposure of 577 kg days was analyzed for WIMPs with mass <30  GeV/c(2), with the signal region blinded. Eleven events were observed after unblinding. We set an upper limit on the spin-independent WIMP-nucleon cross section of 1.2×10(-42)  cm(2) at 8  GeV/c(2). T...

Superweakly interacting massive particles.

We investigate a new class of dark matter: superweakly interacting massive particles (super-WIMPs). As with conventional WIMPs, super-WIMPs appear in well motivated particle theories with naturally the correct relic density. In contrast to WIMPs, however, super-WIMPs are impossible to detect in all conventional dark matter searches. We consider the concrete examples of gravitino and graviton co...
